Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Foundation Inc.

M&T Bank Scholarship

New for the 2010-11 academic year, M&T Bank is funding nine (9) $1,000 scholarships that will be awarded incoming freshmen at the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) universities.  Eligible students are required to complete an application form and write an essay.    

Amount Awarded:
Each selected student will receive a one- year total award of $1,000 ($500 per semester). The student must remain a full-time student in good academic standing to receive the Spring semester award.

Eligibility:

  • Student must reside in one of the following counties: Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Juniata, Mifflin and Perry.
  • Student must be accepted as a full-time student at one of the 14 Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education universities.
  • Student must be from a low-to-moderate income family and need financial assistance to attend college.
  • Student must show academic promise – top 25% of his/her high school graduating class and a high school GPA of 3.0 or better.

Student Requirements:

  • Complete the M&T Bank Scholarship Application.
  • Submit a typewritten essay of approximately 500 words on the following topic: How this scholarship will help you meet your education and career goals.
  • Completed application and essay must submitted by July 15, 2010 to:

Selection Process:

The PASSHE Foundation Scholarship Committee will review, evaluate and select the winners from all eligible applications received.  Scholarship winners and their universities will be notified of the awards by the Foundation’s scholarship director prior to the start of the Fall semester.
