Supporting Public Higher Education for Two Decades

The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Foundation Inc. was founded on June 14, 1985, as The Fund for the Advancement of the State System of Higher Education, Inc. The Foundation works to secure and disburse public and private funds that enhance and support the goals of the Board of Governors and the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.

The Fund owes its inception to F. Eugene Dixon, Jr. and a small group of PASSHE university presidents. From 1996 until June 2000, Dixon led the Fund board as chairman, performing innumerable good works on behalf of public higher education in Pennsylvania.

In 2004, the Fund was renamed the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Foundation Inc. to reflect expanding fundraising initiatives, and growing partnerships to meet the changing needs of Pennsylvanians.
